The herb garden at Zwarkoppies is situated directly behind the kitchen. A variety of herbs was grown, to meet the various culinary and medicinal needs.
On the way to the maze one passes two white wooden louvered structures which were cooler rooms for fresh fruit and vegetables. Mr John McCracken, Zwartkoppies Hall's butler for some time, poses in front of one of the cooler rooms. The house was laid out and run very much like a country estate in England. |
