Country Market

Sammy Marks (1844 – 1920) was the owner of Zwartkoppies Hall, east of Pretoria, today known as the Sammy Marks Museum. He built and furnished a mansion in Victorian taste and style, and transformed the surrounding Highveld landscape into a beautiful park-like garden.

The Sammy Marks Museum annually hosts two Country Markets, one in March and one in September. The market starts at 09h00 and runs until 15h00. Stalls with crafts with a bird and wildlife theme, crafts made of natural materials, herbs, indigenous plants, bonsai and succulents and Victorian type crafts, sell their merchandise.

Other displays include cars, live animals form the Pretoria Zoo and birds of prey.

Apart from the tea garden, there are drinks and other food stalls.

Secure parking is available by paying R5.00 at the entrance.

IF YOU HAVE CRAFTS THAT FIT THE MARKET AND WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE AS AN EXHIBITIONER, PLEASE PHONE TO BOOK A STALL.
