HOW TO REACH TSWAING

From Pretoria Central, Moot and areas north of the Magaliesberg:

• Drive along Paul Kruger Street in northerly direction through Wonderboompoort towards Onderstepoort. Do not turn off to Pretoria North.

• Paul Kruger Street ends with a T-junction at the R 566 between the Old Warmbaths Road (R 101) and Rosslyn/Brits. Turn left towards Rosslyn.

• After a few hundred metres, turn right into M 35 road towards Onderstepoort and Soshanguve. This is known as the Old Soutpan or Tswaing Road.

• Follow this road for about 30 km in a northerly direction past Soshanguve’s informal settlements and various stop-signs until Tswaing is on the left (game fence and Coca-Cola signs)

• Turn left at brown tourism sign into gravel access road that will take you past Soutpan gate to the reception.

From Pretoria southern and eastern suburbs and from Centurion:

• Use the N 1 (north) as for the directions for visitors from Johannesburg and Witwatersrand

From Rustenburg:

• Reach Brits and take the R 566 towards Rosslyn and Pretoria.

• Cross the N 4 (west) (Bakwena Platinum Freeway).

• Turn left at T-junction with road M 35 (Old Soutpan or Tswaing Road) towards Onderstepoort and Soshanguve.

• Follow this road for about 30 km in a northerly direction past Soshanguve’s informal settlements and various stop-signs until Tswaing is on the left (game fence and Coca-Cola signs)

• Turn left at brown tourism sign into gravel access road that will take you past Soutpan gate to the reception.

From Johannesburg and Witwatersrand:

• Take the N 1 (north) through Pretoria’s eastern suburbs towards Pietersburg/Polokwane.

• Drive past Zambesi/Cullinan off-ramp.

• Take N 4 (west)(Rustenburg) at next off-ramp (Bakwena Platinum Freeway).

• Drive for 19 km west.

• Toll R6,60 at Doornpoort Plaza.

• Take M 80 Pretoria/Soshanguve off-ramp and go direction Soshanguve.

• Drive north along M 80 (Mabopane Freeway) until a point where this freeway. stops at three-way stop-sign intersection (distance about 18 km).

• Turn right towards M 35 Soutpan (old name for Tswaing) at this intersection.

• Turn left at T-junction with M 35 Soutpan or Tswaing Road.

• Drive on for about 15km north past Soshanguve’s informal settlements.

• Watch out for game fence (left) and Coca-Cola sign indicating Tswaing Crater 2,7 km.

• Turn left at brown tourist signs after 2,7 km into gravel road leading to main gate
