NCHM Research

In its commitment to promoting effective and efficient heritage management, with particular emphasis on Southern Africa's cultural heritage, the research department of the National Cultural History Musem develops and renders services and products in respect of the folowing:

* Surveying, identifying, documenting and evaluating our heritage's cultural resources such as landscapes, sites, structures, buildings and objects

* Conducting basic historical research within the framework of interest of the museum

* Conducting impact assessments where cultural resources are affected within the framework of Integrated Environmental Management

* Developing policies, plans and specifications for the maintenance, restoration, preservation and replication of historical landscapes, sites, structures, buildings and objects

* Museum planning and design

* Organising and presenting workshops, training and awareness programmes in respect of aspects of heritage management.
