Habitat: Dry bushland, water courses in deserts, desert scrub

General habits: Aggressive, altert and vocal. Occurs alone, in pairs or family groups. Conspicuous. Roosts in holes.

Feeding habits: Forages in trees, bushes and shrubs near the ground. Occasionally flycathes. Diet consists of figs, berries and other fruit and buds.

Breeding habits: Territorial. Is a territorial singer and the pair also duets.

Nest: Excavated, probably by both adults, usually low on the underside of a dead branch of an Acacia, Euphorbia or other tree.
