Status: Resident, often common.

Habitat: Woodland, open woodland, cultivated land with scattered trees.

General habits: Travels distances to reach fruiting trees. Roosts in tree cavity, as many as six together. Displays and calls from lone dead trees.

Feeding habits: Forages in live and dead trees and on the ground. Diet of caterpillars, termintes, ants, figs and fruits.

Breeding habits: Nests in trees in open country.

Nest: Excavated by one or both adults (perhaps also others of the group) at 1-8m in dead or branch of live tree, often on underside. Also in live soft trees.
